This recipe was passed to me by BMcC.    Thank you for your generosity.

When there is something that is real good, we always find someone to either share it with or tell it to.  When I wanted a chocolate cake this pass week I asked several  people for recipes.  Either the recipe was too hard or I didn't have the ingredients on hand to make it.  Then I talked with a certain friend who had a recipe that would take a little longer than usual, but it was the guarantee of the donor that this was a terrific and easy cake to make.  Well, hearing the ingredients I knew that it was possible to make it.  And seeing the time span, I also knew that I would have to plan the timing of the baking, not to interfere with other tasks.

After all of the Planning and making sure that  I had everything to yield what my friend said was a good cake, I began.

I executed the task of making a good cake.  I had to put and bring all of my former knowledge into action.  I measured with accuracy; followed instructions to the letter; and saw to even the most  diminutive detail.  (It isn't fair to attempt something new in a spirit of failure, rather than planned success.)

The end result of trying this new recipe, is that I have written to you about its successful outcome.  I have personally made it, tasted it, and I know that it's GOOD.  So good, in fact, that I desired to share it with all of my readers.

Isn't the Word of GOD the same way?  When we find something so good we can't wait to tell someone about it.  In fact the good news of the item is such that we run to tell about it.  We will call long distance, if we have to.  Good News is so rare, and good taste is so foreign that the thought of our friends enjoying this good news or good taste can't wait until tomorrow, we must tell it now.

There is a taste that is better than any chocolate cake.  It is better than any other food source.  It is a taste that you experience here on earth, but you will have it on into eternity.

This taste is that Jesus Christ is LORD.  In accepting Him, our taste buds will never be fooled into thinking that we have something that doesn't really exist.  We won't be lulled into the fruits of the world which has all types of tempting dishes, but with them come the penalties of sin and death.

Remember Eve?  She was snarled when she tasted and ate forbidden fruit.  Remember Daniel?  He refused to eat from the King's table and maintained good health.   Remember Jonah?  He decided to disobey GOD and a large fish developed a taste for him, but because GOD prepared Jonah's temporary home in the belly of the great fish, he, Jonah, was not digested but thrown up on the shore of Nineveh.

There are many more examples in the Bible of people, like you and me, who tasted wrongly or even tasted rightly the Word of GOD and as a result, trusted in His power to deliver from bondage.

Many times our excuse to taste of forbidden fruit is that hunger pushed us to sin.  Whether it be hunger for real food, or for the sin that tempts us to turn and distrust GOD; but in Ps.34: 9&10; "Oh  fear the LORD, ye His saints, for there is no want to them that fear Him.  The young lions do lack and suffer hunger but they that seek the Lord shall not want."

There is a golden thread of truth throughout the Word of GOD that whispers, "Trust me."  Trust me to fill you when you're hungry; to comfort you when you mourn; to heal you when you're sick and to supply  your need. If you trust Me, you will taste and you will see  that His blessings are to them that trust Him.

There are many of you who will trust me enough to bake that cake.  How many will trust the Word of GOD to make that choice?  The cake is good...but the choice is Soooo Much BETTER!

GOD created man with unbridled ability to overcome the wiles of The Devil...Satan.

FRIDAY'S WORD:   insipid (in*sip*id) tasteless, not stimulating
God did not invite us into an insipid relationship with Him, but  one of joy, peace, and eternal fulfillment.

IN THE MIRROR:

I'm starting to get a sense of excitement when I sit down to try and share that which I believe has been given unto me.
Last week I made an obvious mistake, and after feeling bad about it,  I then came to the knowledge, and realization that God uses mistakes, and therefore with a happy face I'm off and running again.

I can't seem to be able to let go of how the apostle Paul not only talked of "forgetting those things which are behind", but he immediately  involves us with the process of  "reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." ref. Phil.3:13,14.
He had a lot of what we often refer to as "excess baggage", that he could have brought along after his conversion; But  he had something  greater than anything in his past, and anyone can share this same experience.

When God ask us to turn from anything, or from any area in our lives, He invariably has someone for us to turn to, and that ‘ Someone', is Christ Jesus.
Just another thought for the New Year that's facing us, that it won't be just the idea of the year being fresh and new, but that something in our everyday life will be a reflection of the ‘new' life we're living in Christ Jesus. Have a great day!!!
