Thank Jesus It's Friday Again!
October 25, 2002 SUBJECT: IT'S HARVEST TIME

WHEN JESUS STANDS ON THE CLOUDS HE'LL BECKON HIS PEOPLE TO COME; AND WE THAT ARE DEAD IN CHRIST SHALL RISE FIRST AND THOSE WHO REMAIN SHALL BE CHANGED IN A TWINKLING OF AN EYE AND WE WILL GO HOME WITH OUR LORD AND MASTER JESUS CHRIST.  THIS IS THE TIME OF WHAT IS CALLED; "THE RAPTURE."

OCTOBER IS A TIME OF HARVEST FOR MOST OF THE LAST FRUITS OF THE SEASON.  IT IS A TIME FOR TURNING THE GROUND IN PREPARATION FOR NEXT YEAR'S PLANTING.  IT IS A TIME OF CELEBRATION FOR THE ABUNDANT CROP THAT ONLY GOD COULD HAVE GIVEN.  IT IS A TIME FOR SETTING ASIDE, CANNING AND GIVING AWAY.  A TIME TO MAKE SURE THAT WIDOWS AND CHILDREN HAVE CANNED GOODS ENOUGH FOR THE WINTER.

ALL OF THIS REAPING, HARVESTING, SETTING ASIDE, AND GIVING HAS MOVED OVER FOR THE GRUESOME CELEBRATION OF DEATH CALLED "HALLOWEEN."

It's Harvest Time

Romans 1:18-25
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of man, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God has showed it unto them.  For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse; because that, when they knew God they glorified Him not as God, neither were they thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible  God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four footed beasts, and creeping things.  Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanliness through the lust of their own hearts to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God to a lie, and  worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever .  Amen.

Romans 10: 9,10
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth The Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto Salvation.

This week everything is aimed at The Harvest.  Isn't it strange that Halloween is celebrated at the time of the Harvest?  This is the most beautiful time of the year when the leaves turn colors other than green and the final harvest is being brought in.  But God wants us to understand that He is the Lord of the Harvest and He made the pumpkins and the straw that is in the broom , and the tree for the broom handle.

He has said in His Word that "the harvest is plenteous, but the laborers are few."
[Matt. 9:37]

Big Fat frog has much to say about this day called Halloween.  Why don't we just sit back and hear what he has to say?    And I'll just be:

Looking Forward
See Ya Next Time

In The Mirror:

TAKING OFF THE MASK BFF

It's Halloween and everyone has decided to dress up in their respective costumes.  The class was talking about what they were or weren't going to wear.  Big Fat Frog listened closely but had nothing to say or add to the conversation, which was not like Big Fat Frog.

"What are you going to be?" asked one of his classmates.
"I can't say." reported Big Fat Frog.  The tension grew thick as they wondered just what the Frog had on his mind.  Instead of letting it go, they continued to ask questions  and try to guess what he would be.  Big Fat Frog was angry.  He wondered ‘why do I have to engage in something I don't believe?'  He became quiet and very sullen, withdrawn and almost depressed.

By the time that the day had come, Big Fat Frog had made up his mind that he would handle this situation with rebuke , scorn and warfare.  On his way to school that day he saw a classmate, Cindy, who was walking slowly and crying.  Big Fat Frog had so much warfare on his mind that he almost passed her without speaking, but just as he was about to blow by her he slowed down.  "Hey Cindy.  Is everything alright?"
"No."
"What's wrong?  Why aren't you dressed up?  Isn't this Halloween?"  He asked many questions before he could allow her to answer.  She gave this reply: "Big Fat Frog, I just can't go to school without a costume.  My mother doesn't celebrate Halloween, and my father can't afford a costume.  So I'm stuck without a prayer.  Where's your costume?  I thought that you were going to be dressed like a Super Hero or something."
"Cindy, I never said that I would dress up, they assumed that I would and so they made up a costume for me in their minds.  Cindy, I'm a Christian and we  don't celebrate this day, because it is against everything that we believe.  Halloween is a celebration of death and not life.  Jesus Christ died once so all could live.  To participate in this celebration would dispute that which Jesus has done.  It may not seem like a big thing, but anything that takes away from the Cross is  N/G -No Good!"
"Ok. Ok.." said Cindy.  "But, what should I do?"
"Are you a Christian?"
"I know Jesus."  Replied  Cindy.
"That's not good enough.  Satan knows Jesus and he trembles, but he won't make it into the Pearly Gates. He doesn't have an address in Heavenly Places.  It is not good enough just to know Jesus.  You have to make Him Lord of your life and pledge   your allegiance to Him."
"Frog, how do I do that?" inquired   Cindy.
"Repeat after me: GOD, I  thank you for Jesus.  Jesus, I believe that you are the Son of GOD, and that You came and suffered, bled and died on Calvary, but on the third day  You arose with All Power and now You sit at  the right hand of GOD  The Father Almighty ever making intercession for the Saints. I speak these Words with my mouth, believing in my heart that by your   Grace, I am saved and enter into the Everlasting Kingdom of the Eternal Life of GOD."

After repeating these Words,  Cindy began to cry in a different way.  She seemed to be happy.  "Frog, I'm really ok."
Big Fat Frog asked her if she wanted to go to school together.  She declined and told him, "It will be better if we go and stand on our own convictions.  Thank You Big Fat Frog."

The classroom was filled with Goblins, Witches Dragons and Cartoon Characters.  Frederick came in as a pitch fork throwing,  Devil.  A red suit with pointed horns and a tail that dragged behind
him.  The class was in an  uproar.

When Big Fat Frog came in, he noticed that Cindy was talking to some of her friends in the back of the classroom.  Her friends were dressed as Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty.  They seemed very interested in whatever it was that she was saying.  Some of the other classmates were chatting anticipating about the fun they were going to have at the party and also about the bags of candy that they were going to get this night of the "Trick or Treat."  They seemed to all turn away from their conversations  when Big Fat Frog walked into the classroom with no costume or even a hint of a mask in place.  The first one to proclaim disgust was, of course, Frederick with his Devil's suit screaming red and his horned rimmed glasses sitting crooked on the demonic red face.  He shouted, "I knew you couldn't afford to dress up like the rest of us..  I just knew that all of that talk about you having a computerized costume that made you fly was just a bunch of hooey.  Big Fat Frog.. You're a Fat Fake!  I'm going to win this Costume Contest, hands down."
Big Fat Frog looked at Frederick, The Devil, and silently told him, "You have won already."
"That's what I'm talking about!"  Boasted Frederick.  "He raised his voice above the class's roar and said, "Big Fat Frog has conceded to me.  He admits that I have won the Costume Contest, because   he didn't even dress up."  Big Fat Frog corrected Frederick, The Devil, and reported in an equally as loud voice to his classmates, "Yes, I conceded the Costume Contest to Frederick; but the Contest of life will never be conceded  to The Devil.     Even though this day seems relatively harmless, the truth is that this day celebrates death in all of it's gorey perspectives.  This day celebrates the sting of death and the victory of the grave and Jesus Christ came to take those things out of the atmosphere of death by giving us opportunities to be BORN AGAIN!"
An absolutely furious Frederick began pacing up and down shouting, "You always take the fun out of everything!  You start talking about your Jesus Christ and all the fun is gone."  While Frederick was talking Big Fat Frog noticed many of his classmates had left the room.  He was beginning to feel bad about the great Exodus of his classmates when he looked back at Cindy and saw that the two girls that she had been talking to had changed their costumes to regular clothes.  They took their Halloween treats and put them together in one bag and gave them to Frederick, The Devil.

Big Fat Frog purposely looked around the classroom, to his amazement, his classmates had changed their clothes and many of them had given their treats to others, who gave them to others, who gave them to  Frederick, who was dressed as the Devil.  Frederick gloated about how many bags of candy he now   possessed.    He was convinced that his kingdom had enlarged itself, and that he was rich in things that others wanted.  But what Frederick didn't know is that the Classmates had quietly spread the truth of the Gospel and in less than thirty minutes the class room of students decided that Halloween wasn't the celebration for them, so they forsook the costumes, the contests and the treats of the celebration.  They individually and quietly told one another about the stories they had heard about Halloween from their parents and friends and collectively decided not to participate.

Frederick had so many treats that he had to borrow a large black plastic garbage bag so that he could carry them all.   He was so entwined  in his greed that he never noticed that he was the only one with a costume on and that he was the only one who had Halloween treats.

Frederick won the Costume Contest and received certificates with all three places awarded to him.

After school that day Frederick had acquired so many bags of treats that he looked like Santa Clause with his big black bag.  He was seen limping across the playground, his books in one hand, his big black bag over his shoulder, his red suit and his long tail dragging along behind him.  It would be nice if this were the end of the story, but then it would have only half a moral to it.

The bag got so heavy that Frederick had to occasionally set it down.  When he came to the end of the parking lot he realized that he needed another bag to reinforce this one.  He met a little boy dressed as a little Devil who also had a large black bag. Frederick asked him to watch his large black bag until he returned.  He told the little boy that he would give him some of his treats if he would just watch his bag.  The little boy agreed to watch the large bag of treats for Frederick.

About the time that Frederick was coming back to the spot where he left the little Devil with the two bags of treats, he saw an unbelievable sight.

The little boy's parent came and picked him up from that spot.  As soon as they pulled off a large garbage truck swooped by and the man in a orange suit barely stopped the truck as he professionally grabbed the black bag up and threw it into the back of the Garbage truck.    The monstrous sound of the truck swallowing the bag of Halloween treats caused Frederick to fall after tripping over his long Devil tail.   He was so angry, but he recovered quickly when he thought about going out that night for added Tricks or Treats.

When Frederick arrived at home, the first question that his mother had for him was:  "Did you remember that I asked you not to eat all of that candy?"   Then she continued,"Where is all of that candy?"
Frederick relayed the happenings of the day to his mother, with arrogance and pride he ended the tail with, "But I'm going out tonight and try to recoup my loses."
Frederick's mother , who didn't believe in Devils, GOD, Angels nor Jesus, looked at him a long time in silence, then she said, "Young man that suit has done something to your mind!  You will not go out tonight and spend another minute with those Christians.  I knew that you shouldn't help them celebrate their "Hallowed Day."  Now, go to your room and take that suit off!"
Frederick may not have wanted to celebrate Halloween as Big Fat Frog did...But he did!   TER
