John 14: 1-3.  Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in GOD, believe also in me.  In my Father's house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you; And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where am, there ye may be also.

There was a place, when I was a child, where the doors were seldom locked, and the pots smelled good on the stove.
There was a place where tears were wiped away with hands which smelled of Clorox bleach, and clean soap.
This place where food was grown in the dirt in the backyard:
Tomatoes and cucumbers.
Potatoes, carrots, and green beans.
Squash, lettuce, and pumpkins.
Big fat ears of corn that surrounded the other vegetables like the armed guard.
Collard Greens, Turnips and Mustard quite a few.
Even spearmint, radishes and celery.
And don't leave out the sweet peas that ran up the side of the garage on their own special trellis.
Fruit trees full in their season.
Neighbors passing on large baskets of their prized goods  to others.
This place  where laughter was heard most of the time,
And children running in the long driveway, with balls, ropes, and broken skates.
Others were watched, carefully, as they played ‘hide and seek.'
Running as fast as they could to the telephone pole;
Which was the safe spot or, HOME.
Dogs that wouldn't behave, and stray cats.
Fried chicken on Sunday,
Leftovers on Monday.
Tuesdays only GOD knows,
What Wednesday would bring.
Then there's Thursday looking forward to ...
Friday's Fried Fish and Creamed peas with cut carrots.
Saturday was ‘anything goes' as you smell the fresh greens cooking and the aroma of Sunday's dessert.
What a life!
Let's do it again; and again.
Can we ever go back and relive that time?  NOT!
But...we can,  Look Forward.
GOD has given us great promises through His gift of SALVATION.
He has promised us a place where our hearts wouldn't be troubled.
If...we believe in His Son, JESUS.
He said that in His Father's house there are many mansions.
Many, means there are enough.  There is no lack.
Can you imagine Jesus Christ preparing our mansion?
Well, He said that He is ‘preparing a place for you.'
We'll be able to live there with Him.
We won't be lost or confused, because He said, "I will come and receive you unto myself."
And, what a comfort to know that where He is there you will be also.
What a comfort to be with someone who wants to be with you.
Someone who doesn't define your person as "it."
(Remember the games of "Hide and Seek," and " Tag?"  Someone had to be ‘it'.)
But there are no "its."  In that place.
No ,‘Squares' no Odd Balls, nor ‘Weirdos'.
Wouldn't you like to be in a place like that?
Wouldn't you like to live there forever?
HOME!

Everyone  needs  a good picture of what ‘HOME' is.  Some were not as fortunate to have a good working relationship with the aspect of home, whether it is because of abuse, or family discord; Therefore this need is being attempted at this writing.

Home, can have other subtle and misfortunate meanings.  Those meanings rob one of the picture that Jesus Christ is portraying in John 14.  Those misfortunate meanings won't allow the readers to assimilate the awesome promise that Jesus has made.  So, in the place of this promise, these people are maligned with carnal images of fleshly prowess, and thoughts of eternal  superiority.  When these thoughts prevail, it is a MUST that there be, also, eternal inferiority.

Our Good GOD wouldn't do that!
Our Good GOD has given us the  key to our heavenly HOME through His Son Jesus Christ.  It's a give away, because He loves us just  that  much..
When one turns his back on the free gift of Eternal Life; according to the Bible, he surrounds himself in preconceived imaginations and thoughts that exalt themselves against the Son of GOD, Jesus Christ. In this, the ‘high minded' individual aligns himself to be labeled "IT", as he roams throughout Eternity without  a ...HOME.

Seeking the safe place, or home, and  a way out, but without the key he ruminates, "You're ‘It!  You're It!"  There's no ‘HOME', and you're "IT!"

" That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life."(John 3:15)

Looking Forward

See Ya Next Time!

Nutrition News: Heart disease fighting chemicals are found in chocolate, and the levels of  antioxidants in the blood shoot up after eating dark chocolate.  But, NOT if you drink milk with it, or eat milk chocolate.   There is speculation that the protein in milk ties up the antioxidants in chocolate, so the consumption of milk along with the tasty treat diminishes the effect of chocolate.  Another study found that dark chocolate can  lower blood pressure.
Side Note: Chocolate does have saturated fat so this isn't an excuse for choc-o-holics to gorge themselves on this delightful treat.
From: "Nature" Magazine. As reported by "U.S. News and World Report"  September 8, 2003.

Workaholic?: Including vacations and public holidays, Europeans take off approximately six to seven weeks a year as compared to Americans ten point two days of vacation each year.  Plus public holidays.  In Europe it is a matter of law.  They have just passed the law that working people of the European Nations  should have four weeks vacation time per year.  In the United States there is no law like that.
Many Europeans live in apartments and find vacationing to be a welcome relief to their living environs; where as many Americans take shorter weekend trips and have access to homes with backyards;  also factor in two spouses working, summer camp, schools and the like.  It is not easy to work in a long family vacation.
European labor unions push for more time off; while American labor unions push for more money.

Americans have become the  developed world's leader in ‘non stop work,' it is no wonder that it is called "The American Work Ethic."
Stats: Americans work approximately fifty weeks or two thousand hours per year.
Germans work approximately one thousand five hundred hours per year.
Americans work about three weeks more than the Japanese.

WHY?
Because Americans define themselves by their JOB.  It is a compliment in America to be called a "Workaholic."    The first question that an American will ask a stranger is, "What do you do?"  In much of Europe this is viewed as, ‘inappropriate.'

In America working is a ‘virtue,' and being idle is seen as a ‘vice.'
From: "U.S. News and World Report."  September 8, 2003.

Personal note:
Do you think that this fact about Americans could be a plus , seeing as how we have been responsible for sending and taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all points of the earth?   And what about the food that America sends to the starving countries; and the wells that we help dig; and the children that Americans adopt from over seas?      (It was just a thought).

Here's another thought: "If a man does not WORK; a man shall not eat."(smile)

FRIDAY'S WORD:  ruminate; ru*mi*nate; to reflect upon; to consider or examine attentively, or deliberately ; figuratively to turn something over, and over again
(chew the cud)

IN THE MIRROR:

This was found on the Internet, and certainly worth sharing:
"What  you do when you're alone & have a heart attack."
From:  Rochester General Hospital

"If  everyone who gets this sends it to 10 people, you can bet that we'll save at least one life.

Let's say it's 6:15 p.m. and you're driving home (alone of course), after an unusually hard day on the job.  You're really tired, upset and frustrated.  Suddenly, you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to radiate out into your arm and up into your jaw.

You are only about five miles from the hospital nearest your home; unfortunately you don't know if you'll be able to make it that far.  What can you do?  You've been trained in CPR but the guy that taught the course neglected to tell you how to perform it on yourself.

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, this article seems to be in order.  Without help, the person whose heart stops beating properly and who begins   to feel faint, has only about ten seconds left before losing consciousness.

However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously.  A deep breath should be taken before each cough.  The cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.  And a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without letup until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.

Deep  breaths  get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating.  The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm.  In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital.

Tell as many other people about this, it could save their lives."

Personal Note:

Knowing the symptoms is a mandatory prerequisite to the saving of a life.
As important as it is to know the warning signs where our  physical man is threatened how much more important is it to know, and have an even higher knowledge of that which can pose a threat to our spiritual life!

Mark Ashton wrote a book on "Absolute Truth?"  Copyright 1996 by Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship of the U.S.A. In his little book, he tells of the many dangers of "Relativism," and without being able to recognize ‘Truth' when presented with it, relativity is all we'll have left.

"Relativism affirms the value of many options, but does not distinguish any difference in the validity, or truthfulness of these options."   Allow me to paraphrase,(Whatever you want to believe, or disbelieve its okay, its alright .)

Derek Bok, former president of Harvard University, comments on page 14 better than most can say it:
"Relativism and individualism have rewritten the rules of the game.  They have extinguished the motive for education.  If there is no absolute truth, nothing has value.  Life is a ridiculous pursuit of meaninglessness.  The relativist, who lives consistently with the belief that there is no absolute truth, seeks to know nothing, does not care for anything, lives for no reason and acts without regard for anyone ,or anything.  Because relativism is both unlivable and unreasonable it should be rejected by all thinking persons."

I enjoyed receiving and reading, and passing on to you the article on, "What you do when you're alone and have a heart attack."

Now for the trick question, and the fun part. How many of you, after having such concise, succinct, synoptic information are going to change the method; (concerning necessary use), suggested by Rochester General Hospital?

Conversely: How many of you, after reading John 14:6,  are going to change the message so clearly given unto mankind, not for the possibility of "at least one life, but every life that is willing to be saved?

Somehow it seems you knew; I was going to ask! S.L.C.
