PSALM 91

He who dwells in the secret  place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord He is my refuge and my fortress, my GOD in Him I will trust.
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers and under His wings you shall take refuge.
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.   You shall not be afraid of the terror by night; Nor of  the arrow that flies by day;  Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness; Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but, it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place. No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling.
For He shall give His angels charge over you , to keep you in all   your ways.  In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample under foot.
Because he has set his love upon me, therefore I will deliver him.
I will set him on high because he has known My name.
He shall call upon me and I will answer him.
I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him and show him My Salvation.
NKJV
Psalm 121

1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

A Psalm of David.
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

CUT Down on Calories to Lose Weight:
In order to lose weight, you must use fewer Calories than you burn.  Foods high in Fat are the most concentrated source of food Energy  providing lots of Calories, but little nutritional value.    Limiting foods high in Fats can help reduce Calories.

The following steps can lower fat and subsequently cut down on Calories in the diet:
Remember, that "Fat Free, and Reduced Fat" foods may still be high in Calories.
Read all labels on processed foods.
Check Calorie counts in serving sizes.
Compare the amount that you eat and the serving sizes on the packages. (Don't fool yourself.)
Switching from whole milk to Fat Free Milk can make a difference in Caloric intake, over time.
Use only small amounts of canola or olive oil in cooking and on salads.  These oils have as many Calories as other oils, but are healthier for your heart.
Avoid fried foods.   Instead - Bake, Steam, Broil, Grill, or Roast meats, fish and vegetables.
Marinate meats and use herbs and spices to give them flavor.
Buy lean cuts of meat and trim off the fat. Remove skin from poultry.

Season vegetables with lemon, lime or herbs instead of butter or cheese.
Eat fresh fruit and sugar free gelatin and puddings, instead of Calorie laden cakes and pies.

Replace shortening in baked goods with  apple sauce or prune puree.
Cut down   on high fat and highly processed starches such as chips and crackers, breads and pastas.   Use instead whole grain breads and crackers; brown rice and whole wheat pastas.
Serve Smaller portions.
Use a smaller plate - this may help to fool the eye.
Exercise:
Take a walk it's safe and inexpensive.  Walk approximately 40 minutes four times a week is enough to  lower cardiovascular risks and improve   blood sugar   controls.  In addition you can cut your risk of developing Diabetes in half with 1 hour a day of brisk walking.

FRIDAY'S WORD:  stalwart stal*wart; (adj) strong,  or brave
We thank God for the stalwart position of our men and women in the war.

IN THE MIRROR:
Matt. 16:24-26 Then said Jesus unto His disciples, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.  For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; and whosoever will  lose his life for my sake shall find it.  For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?  Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?"

Last week you may have heard it. A man uses himself as a means to kill four men  and injure many others. I won't even pretend to tell you I know his ‘exact' reasoning ; motive (what he stands to gain); or what  influence was paramount in such  an act that we are primarily unaccustomed to hearing about.

The uncanny element that this holds is that everyone is more than familiar with the  premium, value, and the priority we all put on human life. It is inherent in all of us, and we recieved it legitimately because it's one of the ways God made us. It is the eternal part of our being that, through the message, and revelation of Jesus Christ, we ultimately come into a keen awareness of this most important fact.

In light of the impending  threat that we will be experiencing more stories of this nature, centered around terrorism, I wonder if we are more susceptible to something that Jesus was adamant in telling us about a life. When He talks about ‘losing' a life, He's simultaneously telling us, and providing us with a means of living a life greater than we, in this life, can ever imagine.

I'd like to invite you to a ‘hypothetical' death today. Not one where you strap explosives to yourself in an effort to take another life, but to accept the challenge that God has given us through Jesus Christ, and to experience the futility of trying to attempt to answer the question of "what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?"

Just a note as an extra encouragement to someone out there with a loved one in the Armed Forces. I also write as a war veteran, and the prayers of the saints do play a very essential role at this very critical time.   God Bless You Much!
