A WONDERFUL DAY, MOM
MOTHER’S DAY 2008
WHO IS SHE?
Genesis 3:20 (KJV)
20”And Adam
called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.”
Mother; ‘Single Mother;’ ‘Step-Mother;’ ‘Grandmother;’ ‘Widowed
Mother;’ ‘Divorced Mother;’ ‘Adopted-Mother;’ ‘God-Mother;’ ‘Mother-in-Waiting;’
‘Abused Mother;’ ‘Raped–Mother;’ ‘Childless Mother;’ ‘Young Mother;’ ‘Old
Mother;’ ‘Play-Mother;’ ‘Mother-in-Law;’ ‘Pregnant Mother.’
Writing anything on Mother’s Day is tedious. There is so
much that everyone wants to see in a Mother’s Day Newsletter. They want to
be reminded of the goodness of their own Mother, and the wonderful ‘old
times.’ It is almost impossible to satisfy all tastes and not overlook or
omit any. So, many times, we write vaguely about characteristics that will
bring up memories of other’s Mothers.
This year, since I
only know personally, my own Mother, may I tell you that she left a great legacy
to her children? Unlike some Mothers, my Mother was very wealthy.
You have read a lot of what she believed, and I’ve told you and given you
glimpses of her fortune.
A brief biography: Born – 1913;
Oldest of 8 children; Married and moved away from family 1934first child born
1941; second child born 1945; third child born 1947; fourth child 1948 (this
child died at birth).
Bought home 1943; Separation in marriage 1955?; 1954
sister died, resulting in another child being added to the mouths to be fed;
1954 Oldest son contracted polio; Middle daughter and youngest son suffered with
scarlet Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease – all children were sick at the same
time in different institutions (But, they all got well, it was a long hard
road).
Genesis 3:16 (KJV)
16”Unto the woman he said, I will
greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth
children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over
thee.”
During all of these illnesses my Mother began to
amass her fortune. She was a day worker, ironing, cleaning, cooking and
baking for wealthy people. Sometimes she was paid as much as 75 cents per
hour. Sometimes she had to walk to work, then go and visit my youngest
brother, or my oldest brother.
Wealthy people would pick her up at the
bus stop, or see her walking and give her a ride (More wealth was building
up).
To me, she always seemed to have a good handle on
Christianity. She prayed a lot, in her room. There were many times
that we had nothing to eat…but Mom kept saving up her wealth. My Older Brother
taught us not to be bothersome while Mom was counting her treasures, in fact, we
would sit real still. I remember asking my Older Brother, “What are we
going to have for dinner?” My Younger Brother mimicked the question.
The Oldest answered, not too nicely. “I told you to be quiet. Mom’s
counting.” Before dinner, we’d have something to eat; whether the
neighbors brought food or someone would come along with a basket full of greens,
or a string of fish. Philippians 4:19 (KJV)
19”But my God shall
supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ
Jesus.”
My Older Brother went to the Armed Forces; my younger
Brother went to a private school. That left me and my Mother. She
went back to school to become a ‘Cadet Teacher,’ but instead she became a
Licensed Practical Nurse. (The fortune was building greater and
greater.) She told me about the patients, and how they caused her fortune
to grow.
She worked as a Nurse approximately fifteen years,
and then she became sick. On her sick and dying bed she told me. “Do
not cry for me! I see where I’m going. I just have to get across
that River.”
My Mother died March 4, 1984, five days before
her 71st birthday. She instructed my brother to sell the property in
January of the same year. He sold it without difficulty. Now is
where I expose her wealth.
As we became teenagers, she wrote
out the 91st psalm anointed it with oil, and tucked it into our wallets.
She told us to memorize this precious Psalm for protection. I personally
had more than three, hand written, copies of this treasure in my own
lifetime. But, that’s not all. Just writing the Word of GOD on paper
is not enough. My Mother prayed…and prayed…and prayed. She taught me
that there is no problem that GOD cannot solve. She showed us the power of
GOD in her consistency.
Did she go to Church? Yes, and
sang in the choir. She went to many funerals of deceased friends and
Church acquaintances. She taught me to care and to love the unloved and
the unlovable. We went to the home for unwed Mothers and raised
funds. We visited the sick, and took them vegetables and peonies from her
garden.
We fed the poor from her garden, and never thought of any
person as beneath us, according to her teachings.
Philippians 4:12
(KJV)12”I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and
in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound
and to suffer need.
13I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth
me.”
She taught me that “With GOD, all things are
possible.” She recited long passages of the Bible by heart,
and encouraged us to do the same. She didn’t divide her wealth; she gave
all of us the same, without diminishing the supply.
In case
you don’t know of what that wealth consisted, I’ll be glad to explain…Her wealth
was laid up where thieves and moths could not corrupt. The counting that
she was doing was the reading and praying of the endless Words in that Great
Book – The Bible. Afflictions were handled like stepping stones to a
greater good. Her love for the Lord was contagious, and every one of us
caught it. She would win battles on a stallion of Peace, Kindness, and
Joy. She was Patient and gentle in her manner of teaching; but no better
disciplinarian could be found. She introduced us to the Real Jesus; the
One, who answers prayers, heals the sick, feeds the poor, opens blinded eyes,
sets captives free, and prepares a place, in the heavenly, for all who
believe. He is a Father to the fatherless; He opens the womb of the
barren; He is the Provider for the Widow, He never forsakes the Righteous, nor
will he allow the Righteous seed to beg bread; He is the deliverer for the poor
and the needy, and them that have no helper.
He is
Jesus, The Only Begotten Son of the Living GOD, The Father Almighty; He is
Everlasting from Age to Age; Eternal Immutable, Holy GOD.
In
this life, Mothers, you may suffer living in many categories, and be embarrassed
and maybe even made to feel shame…But Fear Not! GOD has made provision for
every situation that you can face in this life.
My Mother
lived the life of a married Mother; a divorced Mother; an Adoptive Mother; She
lost a child after it was born; she was a working Mother; She went back to
college and took the cadet teaching course; but ended up finishing school as a
licensed Practical Nurse.
Her life touched on many of the
types of Mothers, their striving, and their ability to believe Jesus for
everything. That’s the key to her enormous wealth. BELIEVE GOD Mothers.
All Mothers, teach your children to lean and depend on Jesus. Teach them
the scriptures and discipline. Let them see your Righteous Walk in the
Lord FOR EVERYTHING!
Philippians 4:6-9; (KJV)6”Be careful
for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let
your requests be made known unto God.
7And the peace of God, which passeth
all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are
honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever
things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue,
and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9Those things, which ye
have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of
peace shall be with you.”
Your Mothering skills are
sharpened with the Word of GOD as you grow in the Lord.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

Psalm 91
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of
the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of
the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome
pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings
shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 Thou shalt not
be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that
wasteth at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at
thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt
thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because thou hast made the
LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10 There shall
no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11 For
he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a
stone.
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the
dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14 Because he hath set his love upon
me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known
my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him
in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16 With long life will I
satisfy him, and show him my salvation.

“Contentment comes with old

Baby Boomers are the least happy; because they haven’t let go of
their achievement driven mind set. They could end up living the
unfortunate stereo type. So far, they are not lowering their aspirations
at the same rate that earlier generations did. They seem to believe that
they should have it all. They still think that they will have a retirement

March 12,
1952
To our Dear Daughter, Myrtle, on her Birthday.
It
all dates back to 1920, when one night, March twelfth a tiny little bundle of
love, joy, and happiness was left in our home. How much we loved you; no
one but us will ever know. When you were still a baby, you gave yourself
the nickname “Eliz abus Fat Doll,” which we will always remember.
Before we could hardly realize it, you had left the “home nest” and flown
into a home of your own. In this home you were blessed with a kind loving
husband and two lovely children. Time has dealt very kindly with you,
although you have had much serious sickness in your home; and all has been
spared.
As you travel the remaining part of your journey with your
hand in that of the Dear Savior; may you make a safe landing on the other
side. This is the prayer of Mama and Papa Hair. Happy
Birthday.

IT TASTES LIKE LOVE TO ME
Those home
made meals
Of days gone by,
Mom’s breads and cakes
And, oh, the
pie!
Meals were started with a prayer;
The entire family gathered
there.
My heart recalls the sharing,
Of food and tales
and cares.
Whatever we were bearing
Was always lightened
there.
Our Mother cooked by
“Pinch” and “feel,”
No
recipe per se “From scratch” just meant the real deal,
A labor of love three
times a day.
The meals weren’t fancy
Or gourmet,
But, oh, were they delicious!
Remember now, though old I be,
They tasted just like love to me!

BMCCWHAT ARE YOU PRAYING?
This story was told about a young boy who
was overheard praying by his mother. As he closed his prayer she
listened: “And Dear Lord, please heal all of the sick people, and feed all
of the hungry people, and make all of the poor people rich.”
The mother felt that she should speak with the little boy about
wanting people to become rich, and the importance of being satisfied with your
present state. She was cooking, and the youngster came into the kitchen,
raised up the top on the pot and asked. “Mama, why didn’t GOD make
everyone rich like us?”
The Mother now understood that the young boy
wanted everyone to have that which they needed, and in his mind, since he had
what was needed . . . He was rich.

SMALL PRAYERS?
By: RUTH BELL
GRAHAM
“And please pray I’ll catch a lizard.”
Alone in the
kitchen, catching up on the mail, I came across this very serious request sent
to Samaritan’s Purse from a very serious four year old supporter.
I
laughed out loud.
Only the day before, I had been in Paris with Bill
for Mission France. Much prayer had gone up all over France in behalf of
those who might be unfulfilled spiritually and stifled materially.
And
here was a small boy praying for a lizard.
And GOD, Our Father, who so
graciously answered in France, cared also for the concerns of one four year
old.
I wondered how GOD not only puts up with, but welcomes, our
prayers, considering all He has on Him. Not once has He ever said, “Don’t
bother Me. Don’t you see I’m busy?” And He so well could— with the
world in its present condition.
But, no. Each person is special
to Him Who calls every star by name, Who has the hairs of our heads numbered and
Who knows the number of grains of sand on the ocean shores.
So even a
little boy’s desire for a lizard would be duly noted. In fact, I imagine
the angels themselves enjoyed that small request.

IN THE MIRROR: REAL LOVEWe know what real
love is because Christ gave up his life for us. (1 John 3:16)
A young boy was
sitting in the waiting room of a hospital worried about his sick sister when a
doctor sat down beside him. The boy’s parents sat on the other side. The doctor
explained to the boy that his sister needed a blood transfusion and that he was
one of the few people with the kind of blood that she needed. Both he and his
sister had very rare blood types, the doctor explained. And unless his sister
received this transfusion, she would probably die.
“Would you give your blood
to Mary?” the doctor asked. Johnny hesitated and bit his lip to keep it from
quivering. “Sure, for my sister,” he said, smiling to hide his fear.
Soon the
two children were wheeled into the hospital room. Mary was pale and thin. Johnny
was robust and healthy. Neither spoke as the nurse inserted the needles into
their arms, beginning the transfusion. Johnny’s smile faded as he saw the blood
flow through the tubes. He laid his head back on his pillow and closed his eyes.
His face never changed. When the procedure was almost done, he looked up at the
doctor and with a slightly shaken voice asked, “Doctor, when do I die?”
I
hope someone was quick to hug the selfless child!
Jesus says, “I command you
to love each other in the same way that I love you. And here is how to measure
it—the greatest love is shown when people lay down their lives for their
friends” (John 15:12-13).
If you want to know the depth of people’s love,
just look at how much they are willing to sacrifice for you. If you wonder what
people think of you, look at what they’re willing to do for you. When people are
willing to pay the ultimate price, you no longer have to wonder if their love is
genuine.
You and I may never be called on to give up our life for someone we
love. But people will know just the same, because how we live says as much about
us as how we’re willing to die.
This was taken from: “Embracing Eternity:
Living Each Day With A Heart Toward Heaven
By; Tim LaHaye ; Jerry B. Jenkins
; & Frank M. Martin
This story of the young boy and his sister
obviously touched my heart in a special kind of a way, as I hope it did
yours.
Every time love is presented in unique fashion, I believe
God is giving us the Gospel of Jesus Christ all over again. Sacrificial love, as
rare as it may be, commands heartfelt attention.
Try to make sure
you read the suggested scriptures provided, because it will help bring out the
message in the story. What I want to continue to think on is found in the
sentence, “When people are willing to pay the ultimate price, you no longer have
to wonder if their love is genuine.” I may not know at this time how to make the
complete transition as I seek the Lord everyday of my life, but I do know it
will have something to do with following people as they follow Jesus Christ.
It’s what Christianity is all about. Isn’t it?
Mother’s Day is one
of the best and most appropriate times for the topic of Love. Just in the event
you missed it the first one hundred times I’ve shared this favorite, “God
couldn’t be everywhere, so He invented Mothers.”When you think about a mother’s
love, does it come any better than that? Not for me; and I hope not for you
either.(That’s your spot, Mom:)
I join in the ranks of people all over the
world that feel and believe their mom surpasses every Mother God ever created.
Praise God for every Mother living today. And for the ones who have gone on, we
still thank God for the legacy they left behind that will continue to shape our
life and living.
Here’s another story of— Sacrificial Love;
“A
little boy had a canary bird which he loved very much. His mother became ill,
and the singing of the bird gave her great annoyance. The boy was told by the
mother that the bird gave her great pain by its singing. He went at once and
gave the bird away to his cousin, and then came home and told his mother that
the bird would not disturb her anymore, for he had given it away. “But did you
not love it very much?” she asked him. “How could you part with it?” “Yes,” he
replied, “but I love you a great deal more. I could not really love anything
that gave you pain.” We must love God as this boy loved his mother, more than we
love anything else, and also everything that grieves Him we must give up,
however much we may like it”.
It helped me a lot as a Christian to
be able to measure a great deal of my walk with Christ by being able to actually
witness how a person begins to love the things He loves, and also finding a
dislike for that which you know God disapproves of. I pray that all of us are
still finding the work of the Holy Spirit immeasurable and invaluable, becoming
a guiding Light in an otherwise ‘darkened soul.’ Where would we be without
examples, and witnesses of the people who decided to walk with God and obey what
they learn of Him?
This story is precious also:
“I have heard of
a girl who in an evil hour left her mother—won by the promises of some villain,
and traveled to a large city. And there went down to the lowest depths. At last
all sad at heart and perishing with hunger she thought she would creep back and
see the old home again, and die. Of course her mother would never receive her
anymore, but nobody in the village would know her, and it would be good to see
the cottage and the flowers of the garden and to hear the birds sing again. And
so with heavy heart and wearied steps she wandered on until she reached the
little village. It was night when she got there. Footsore and faint she could
just stand by the gate, and, dark as it was, the stars would give light enough
to see the place—and there she would stand and try to feel again as she had done
long ago. But, as she came near, a light glimmered along the path and she saw
that it was her mother’s cottage. Long ago her mother must have gone to bed.
What did this mean? And wondering she came on—and she found the gate was set
wide open—the gate that was always so carefully shut, and noiselessly she crept
to the door. It was on the latch, the door that always used to be bolted and
barred at night. She stepped within, and whispered wondering, “Mother.” Ah, it
was enough, the arms were about her neck. Their tears mingled together, and
love, as deep and true and full as ever, welcomed her home and loved her into
goodness. And she found that ever since she had left her home that door had been
on the latch, that gate was left wide open, and in the window was the candle set
to guide her steps. That was a mother’s love, but very far beyond that is the
Savior’s love.”
Everything has its own overflow into Jesus Christ,
doesn’t it!
I want to change the atmosphere of your mind a little
right in here, to surface something which we all could get involved with. Can
you really think about Mothers, and a Mother’s love, without thinking about—
Children? Now that you have children on your mind— think about what is
happening to our youth, and our precious children today. Think about each and
every time a Mother must hear the unfortunate news of something that has
happened to that child that she carried in her womb, raised as best she could,
loved, nourished as only a Mother could, and to have all those years, however
many or few they were, turned into almost unbearable
grief.
Question: Who’s ready to cry out for our children today? You
got a prayer closet? Then you’re a candidate.
Question: The God
that sent His Only Begotten Son, knew of this day from the beginning of
creation. . . .But are we listening to Him? (Matthew 5:4)
Question:
What if we talked about love, as much as we talked about money in church? Would
it make a difference? Pardon me if I answer that one for you.
YES!
Maybe we can find another approach with which you’ll want to
identify with. My previous articles pertaining to our youth may have been
poignant, but when the Lord lays something upon my heart, I look for results.
Not that I may see them now, but heaven is fine with me.
There’s
something I already know. Before I can finish this article, we’ll learn of
difficulty or tragedy where our young people are concerned.
Many, many of our
children have been fed a diet of violence via, every WORLDLY source available.
The reason I can be so aggressive with this matter is because I know there are a
number of people out there who are more than ready to defend their position, and
their freedom to do whatever they feel like doing. But, my friend, there’s
something you don’t understand about God. . .
Somebody’s going to
listen; somebody’s going to look; somebody’s going to think in an area of
thought that they only overlooked before, and somebody’s child WILL BE
SAVED!!!
Now that’s the Shout right there.
Its gotten so you
can’t adequately point to movies and video games anymore, because now
young people are making their own violent movies; And a great number of adults
are not helpful when they find themselves needing to suppress the personal
addictions in their lives.
Can’t you see the lurid progression? It is
hidden in our ungodly society that denies the Power of the Love of God, and
without the Holy Spirit to take away the blindness, we are surely without
hope.
Just in case you don’t have your Bible handy, I want you to be able to
read this right away;
2 Corinthians 4:1 - 7 (KJV) 1Therefore seeing
we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2But have
renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor
handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth
commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3But if our
gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4In whom the god of this world
hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious
gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5For we
preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for
Jesus’ sake. 6For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath
shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in
the face of Jesus Christ. 7But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that
the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
Do you
hear, or read any of this as put forth as “blame?” Let me help you with that
concept.
In recent news, a 7˝ feet tall, 700 pound bear in Phelan, California
at a training camp, took the life of one of its trainers. (We always pray for
the families.)
Denise Richards, who works with wild animals at a sanctuary
for injured and homeless wild life, made a comment in the Associated Press
pertaining to the incident; “It’s still a wild animal. Even tho it may appear
that the bear attacked for no reason, there was a reason. . . They’re not
cold-blooded killers.”
Mothers are not to blame; Fathers are not to blame;
Our Children are not to blame. Without Jesus Christ, and the Power of the
true Gospel, we all possess a nature that is named and described in the Bible
as, “Sin.” All the sciences in the world cannot fittingly define or explain it,
and the only satisfactory way of identifying it and its characteristics are in
the same Bible that clearly tells us of why the coming of Jesus Christ (John
3:16-17).
You don’t need a spiritual illumination to know there is
a reason when a wild animal acts out of the nature in which it was born, and if
we’re willing to be honest, when we deny the nature in which we came into the
world, we set ourselves at a tremendous disadvantage that says we have no real
interest in Jesus Christ, the Bible or the Eternal life God provided in His
Son.
Here’s more scripture that will help you to understand the need
here;
1 Corinthians 1:21 (KJV) 21For after that in the wisdom of God the
world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to
save them that believe.
1 Corinthians 2:11 - 12 (KJV) 11For what man knoweth
the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things
of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12Now we have received, not the
spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the
things that are freely given to us of God.
Luke 9:23 - 27 (KJV) 23And he
said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take
up his cross daily, and follow me. 24For whosoever will save his life shall lose
it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. 25For
what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be
cast away? 26For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall
the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his
Father’s, and of the holy angels. 27But I tell you of a truth, there be some
standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.
Maybe these are just some passages you may have overlooked, or
hadn’t given much thought to, but take your time and give consideration to
what’s being said. God doesn’t strip us of ourselves for no reason. The Bible
wasn’t written as a ‘good ideal’ for living a certain way, or to have a
particular lifestyle.— We had to be saved from ourselves.
You’ll see
something else in Luke’s gospel. A reminder, we recognize it at every Christian
funeral; Just because you see a ‘lifeless body,’ that person is NOT dead
(v.27). Their body has died, but they had a spirit, and depending on
whether they accepted or rejected Jesus Christ tells of their continuity in
life. Anyway you look at it, the message of God’s Love is found in Mothers, and
in every living creature He ever made, in order that when you’re privileged to
hear from Him, you’ll know how to appropriately respond. My prayer is, You’ll Do
That Today! HAPPY MOTHER’S

CRACK
ONE EGG INTO THE CENTER OF EACH BREAD CUP.
HALF FILL THE EMPTY CUPS WITH
WATER. (THIS HELPS TO ENSURE EVEN BAKING.)
BAKE FOR FIVE MINUTES
OR UNTIL THE EGGS ARE SET AND COOKED.
TRANSFER EACH CUP TO A SERVING
PLATE.
NOTE: AFTER COOKING THESE LOVELY CUPS, YOU MAY
WANT TO SERVE WITH YOUR CHOICE OF BACON; SAUSAGE; OR SOME TYPE OF CHEESE.
THIS IS NOT AN ORIGINAL RECIPE; BUT IT IS A REAL EASY WAY
FOR THE CHILDREN TO MAKE BREAKFAST FOR MOM ON MOTHER’S DAY.
MOTHER’S
WILL BE GLAD TO GET A MORNING OUT OF THE
KITCHEN…ENJOY!
