TRIAL2nd TIMOTHY 2:1-4 (KJV)
“1Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2And
the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit
thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 3Thou therefore
endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4No man that warreth
entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who
hath chosen him to be a soldier.”
Watching my husband and son build their bodies, I would observe the obvious
strain and pain that was exerted in lifting those weights. One day I asked
my son, how much did that set of weights actually weigh? To my surprise he said
two hundred pounds. I was flabbergasted. He lifted those weights just
like I would lift a bag of groceries, and maybe even better.
It was not unusual to hear him and his father in the weight room laughing and
lifting weights. (They were always competing.) I happened down into the
room one day, when my son was alone, he was tying on some weights that I had
never seen before. In fact, they were, and looked, new. He asked me, “Mom,
would you spot me?” I answered. “Sure, as soon as you tell me what ‘spot’ means.”
He chuckled and replied. “That means that you will get me out of
trouble if you see me straining under these weights. I’ll show you how, Mom.”
Quickly, I told him. “I can’t begin to lift that off of you, son. Please don’t
get under all of that weight. Wait until your father gets home.” He
began to laugh and said, “Mom, you don’t have to lift them, all you have to
do is give me a little break, so I can push them up into the rack.” And he
went on to show me how to spot him. Indeed, I didn’t have to actually lift the
weight off of him, but just give him a small break so that his musculature
could recover, and push the weights up into their racking position.
1 Peter 1:6-8 (KJV)
6”Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in
heaviness through manifold temptations:
7That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth,
though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour
and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing,
ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:”
As Christians, we are going to have, and probably already have many trials.
Each trial, just like the weights, alluded to in the beginning, only builds
faith to tackle weightier situations. GOD does not expect from us that which
we cannot deliver. He knows our capacity and ability to lift the heavy load.
There has been many times, I’m sure, that you have looked back on a major situation,
and breathed a sigh of relief that it was over. You made it? It
is just like lifting the weights. You don’t start out lifting 200 pounds, no.
You start with only lifting the bar, and build up to greater and greater
weights until one day you’re lifting 200 plus pounds and loving the results.
One day, Christians, we’ll actually see the fruit of our labor, and we will
just love it.
1 PETER 4:12-19 (KJV)
12"Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to
try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13But rejoice, inasmuch
as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed,
ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 14If ye be reproached for the
name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon
you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
15But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer,
or as a busybody in other men’s matters. 16Yet if any man suffer as a Christian,
let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. 17For the time
is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin
at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18And
if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner
appear? 19Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit
the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.”
It won’t be long Christians. He is coming quickly. Keep exercising, keep lifting
heavier and heavier weights. Keep looking to Him to spot you when you’re
under a weight that you can’t quite manage . . . He will spot you. It is so
important right now for us to fill up on this.
The Word of GOD is to protect us against the wiles of the evil one. The evil
one comes and tells you that you can’t even lift the 40 pound bar, so don’t
even try the 200 pounds that you’ve been lifting for the past three weeks. The
evil one sows his seeds of weakness, listlessness, and poor self esteem,
so that you will not finish this race of life, successfully; but the more you
lift those weights, the more trials that you overcome, and the more fears
that you conquer will bring you into a knowing that your trials have been stepping
stones to your complete freedom in Christ Jesus.
Keep lifting . . . Christians!

NOTEWORTHY:
The Miracle of Belief
“My speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom …”
(1 Corinthians 2:4).
Paul was a scholar and an orator of the highest degree; he was not speaking
here out of a deep sense of humility, but was saying that when he preached
the gospel, he would veil the power of God if he impressed people with the Excellency
of his speech. Belief in Jesus is a miracle produced only by the
effectiveness of redemption, not by impressive speech, nor by wooing and persuading,
but only by the sheer unaided power of God. The creative power of
redemption comes through the preaching of the gospel, but never because of the
personality of the preacher.
Real and effective fasting by a preacher is not fasting from food, but fasting
from eloquence, from impressive diction, and from everything else that might
hinder the gospel of God being presented. The preacher is there as the representative
of God—“… as though God were pleading through us …” (2 Corinthians
5:20). He is there to present the gospel of God. If it is only because of my
preaching that people desire to be better, they will never get close to Jesus
Christ. Anything that flatters me in my preaching of the gospel will result
in making me a traitor to Jesus, and I prevent the creative power of His redemption
from doing its work.
“And I, if I am lifted up …, will draw all peoples to Myself” (John 12:32).

TJIFA’S BOOKSHELF: MOVING THROUGH MATTHEW
THE HOLY BIBLE
Readers, we are now in Matthew. Are you on the Bible Bus? If you have never
rode with us, try it, you’ll be blessed. Our Bible Bus Driver is Dr. J.
Vernon McGee, and he is always on time at your bus stop, with interesting, colorful
situations. He has wonderful anecdotal stories to help us remember
certain passages, and even poems and short stories. He reveals the Spirit of
the Word of GOD, not just the letter.
We have journeyed on the bus for a few years now, and have never failed to learn,
and to grow in the Word of GOD. Get a Bible and a Strong’s Concordance
and climb on board. The WEB page is TTB.org. There you will find all manner
of assistance to the struggling student of the Bible. You may move as fast
or as slow as you are able. The structure is just that pliable, without losing
face.
The Book of Matthew sheds these Great Lights:
-The feeding of the multitude is mentioned in all four Gospels.
-The Church today is saying “Send the multitudes away; because they lack the
physical ability to rescue or nourish the multitudes.” It was said that if
the Church hadn’t turned its back on the Power of the Lord Jesus Christ, the
Power would be there to do the Works of GOD; to heal the sick, and to feed
the hungry. Since there is little power in the Church, it turns the helpless
over to secular programs supported by the government.
-The shortest prayer in the Bible is, “Lord save me” (Matthew 14:30). This was
Peter’s prayer as he sank down into the water that he had previously been
walking on with Jesus.
Walking on the water:
-Jesus performed this miracle that His disciples might be brought into a place
of faith.
-Turn to Jesus, as Peter did, and you will find comfort in the midst of your
storm.
The above points are few in number regarding Matthew’s fourteenth chapter. Readers,
we continue to encourage you to read . . . “The Book.”

REVELATION? GOD’S GIFT
Look around you.
Look harder and you’ll see GOD’S Gift. Not the air, not the trees, nor the grass;
but the people, walking, talking, singing, and being in Him.
The Gift of GOD to every man is man’s body, made of clay, and man’s breath,
made of the Spirit of GOD.
When you look around you see just what others are doing with their Gift. They
are eating junk, or drinking junk, they are reading junk, or singing junk;
they are smoking junk, and complaining that they can’t get enough junk.
What do you suppose GOD is saying about the junk that is being emitted from
His Creation?

QUICK QUOTES:
Referring to Job: “GOD knew Job better than Satan did, because Satan may see
your body, but he can’t see your heart. He might see what’s on the outside
of you but he does not know what’s on the inside of you.” (Only GOD knows.)

MILLSTONE . . . FORBID THEM NOT!
RUNNING AWAY? On the week of July 10, 2011, a program aired of which only the
tail end of it was heard. The Speaker told of his encounter with ‘running
away.’ This is the story:
A young boy’s parents decided to divorce, and they, together, informed their
impressive, young son, who was approximately eight years old. When he understood
the news, he ran out of the house, grabbed his ‘huffy’ bike, and began to pedal
as hard as he could down the street. He spoke of the tears that were stinging
his cheeks, and the pain that was growing in his breast.
He passed his best friend’s house; but when his friend tried to acknowledge
him, he just kept right on pedaling, as hard and as fast as he could. His
best friend jumped on his bike, and followed him. The young boy was unaware
of his friend’s presence, and when he finally came to a stop, his best friend
pulled up right beside him.
His friend asked, “Where are you going?”
He answered. “I’m running away!”
His friend questioned. “Why?”
Through masked emotions he responded. “My parents are going to get a divorce.
I’m leaving. I’m going to run away.”
His friend asked. “How are you going to do that?”
The boy reached in his pocket and showed his friend a five dollar bill, saying,
“I’ve got money.”
His friend looked at the five dollar bill, as the boy was putting it away, and
still sitting on the bike he set his sights for the yonder place called,
“Run Away.” He had placed his feet on the pedals, when his friend pushed him
over, bike and all onto the grass. The young boy laid and cried, not because
of the fall from the bike but the pain that no one else could see, or feel.
His friend stayed right there with him until all of the crying ceased, and all
of the pain was temporarily cried out. His friend didn’t bother with noisome
words, his presence only, was sufficient.
Readers, we may not be aware of the hurt that is involved with the decisions
that we, as adults make; and especially how they yield painful circumstances
in the lives of our children. To a child, the Marriage Institution is the most
permanent institution around. It is dependable, reliable, provides for
all of our needs, and it gives never ending love to everyone. So, when a child
hears that the Mother or the Father is not going to be a part of the union
anymore, it is devastatingly hopeless. A child’s world crumbles when that word
is introduced to his environment. It causes the child to feel broken;
because after all who should his alliance be with? It is hard for an immature
mind to make that kind of a choice. Recent statistics proclaim that The
United States of America lead the world in its divorce rate. I guess that includes
Christians also. There was no distinction.
Dear Lord, in Jesus’ Name, help us all to do better. AMEN

THINK ON THESE THINGS! “FROG”
Dear Readers, a Beloved Reader sent me this in the e-mail. It was one of those
letters that is supposed to be passed on, and on. Usually I send them
to a couple of people, this week; I’d like to share it with all of you. Here
it is:
“F.R.O.G, WE ALL NEED ONE. I was told this story by a lady who was in the hospital
who was near death when an area Chaplain came to visit her. This
Chaplain was a very young female with long blond hair. She listened to the lady
who was ill and left her a small gift for comfort. It was a tiny ceramic
frog. The next day, one of the people from the lady’s Church came to visit.
The lady told her friend about the beautiful young Chaplain who had come
to visit her. The friend was so impressed with the way the lady had improved
and felt the need to talk to the young Chaplain.
In her search to find the young woman, she was repeatedly reassured that the
Chaplains were never very young, and that there was never a female that fit
the description given. Upon returning to the lady in the hospital, a visiting
nurse entered the room, and noticed the ceramic frog. The nurse made the
comment, ‘I see you have a Guardian Angel with you.’ As she held the little
frog, we asked why she made the comment and we were informed that the frog
stood for: FOREVER RELY ON GOD”
To the world, you might be one person; but to one person you might be the world.

remembering how to fly.”

TESTIMONY TIME: TRIUMPHANT ENTRY
Every Christian knows of the Triumphant Entry by Jesus into the city of Jerusalem.
What we don’t know is that Jesus entered the city three times and Dr.
McGee rewards us with this information.
The first day that He went into the city was on a Saturday, the Sabbath Day;
and there were no money changers on that day. Mark 11:11 says that He looked
around and left the city. This day He entered the city as the Priest of GOD.
The second day that He entered Jerusalem was on the first day of the week, or
Sunday. The money changers were there, and He cleansed the Temple. Reference
Matthew 21:1-17. In this entry He came as the King.
On the third day, He wept over the city, went into the temple and taught and
healed. Dr. Luke teaches this in Luke 19:41, 44, 47, & 48; on this entry
Jesus came as Prophet. He entered the city three times. He apparently did not
spend the night, but spent the night in Bethany. He evidently did not
spend the night in Jerusalem until He was arrested.
The Triumphal Entry ended at the Cross, and His true Triumphant Entry will not
be experienced until He returns the second time, and His feet touch down
on the Mount of Olives, and then He’ll enter the City. That will be His Triumphant
Entry.

FRIDAY’S WORD:
TRIBULATION Trouble or pressure of a general sort; in some passages a particular
time of suffering associated with events of the end time. In this sense
it is described as tribulation surpassing any trouble yet experienced in human
history (Matt. 24:21).
Such a reference to “the great tribulation” as Revelation 7:14 (NIV) is seen
by some (amillennialism) to refer historically to persecution faced by Christians
of the latter part of the first century, but also symbolic of tribulation that
occurs periodically throughout history. Others (premillennialism) take such
a reference to the great tribulation to refer to an end time period. Dispensational
premillennialism connects such a seven-year tribulation with the seventieth
week of a prophetic framework taken from Daniel 9:24-27. A distinction is usually
made between the two halves of the seven years. The last half, often
called the Great Tribulation, is measured variously as three and a half years
(Dan. 9:27), forty-two months (Rev. 11:2; 13:5), 1,260 days (Rev. 11:3; 12:6),
or “a time, and times, and half a time” (Rev. 12:14). Distinctive to this view
is the teaching the church will be raptured at the beginning of the tribulation
period.
Historic premillennialism sees the period as a future time of intense trouble
on earth prior to Christ’s return, but holds the church will go through the
tribulation. The church must endure the tribulation, but not God’s wrath.

IN THE MIRROR
Recently I was reminded how the book of Proverbs plays a vital role in Christian
secular society. The gratitude that I received from this fresh exposure
is something I couldn’t resist thinking about, and wondering how many others
would desire a refreshing that this wisdom is capable of permeating their
lives with.
Please read and enjoy the pleasure it brings:
Proverbs 3:1 - 2 (KJV) 1My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep
my commandments: 2For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add
to thee.
Proverbs 3:11 - 14 (KJV) 11My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither
be weary of his correction: 12For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth;
even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. 13Happy is the man that findeth
wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. 14For the merchandise of
it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine
gold.
Proverbs 3:21 - 23 (KJV) 21My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep
sound wisdom and discretion: 22So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace
to thy neck. 23Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not
stumble.
Proverbs 4:10 (KJV) 10Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years
of thy life shall be many.
Proverbs 4:20 - 23 (KJV) 20My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto
my sayings. 21Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst
of thine heart. 22For they are life unto those that find them, and health to
all their flesh. 23Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the
issues of life.
Proverbs 6:23 (KJV) 23For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and
reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
Proverbs 8:35 - 36 (KJV) 35For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain
favour of the LORD. 36But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul:
all they that hate me love death.
Proverbs 15:14 - 16 (KJV) 14The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh
knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness. 15All the days of
the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
16Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble
therewith.
Proverbs 27:1 (KJV) 1Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what
a day may bring forth.
Of course if we stop here we’re subject to miss what else the Holy Spirit may
be wanting the Body of Christ to glean from the wisdom that was ordained from
the beginning of time.
Why did I say, “ . . .from the beginning of time?”— I’m glad you asked!
In order to help establish my premise, will you cooperate in reading the following?
It will be a tremendous benefit:
Ephesians 1:3 - 11 (KJV) 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in
Christ: 4According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the
world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5Having
predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according
to the good pleasure of his will, 6To the praise of the glory of his
grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
7In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according
to the riches of his grace; 8Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all
wisdom and prudence; 9Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according
to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: 10That in the
dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things
in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according
to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own
will:
If you suppose this to be just a theological argument, it runs far deeper than
that. Now, if you will go back to the Proverbs, (and remember this is only
parcel to what the Bible holds), there’s a fiber there that seems visible throughout
scripture. — Did you guess it? It suggest . . .LIFE! — The preservation
of it!
Would you believe I try and write in such a fashion that portrays me as a pretty
nice guy to sit across from the table and have a nice conversation with,
but the truth is that when I know what I really want to communicate in this
article, I hurt and I cry. I don’t “boo-hoo,” I don’t “sob” “weep” or “trickle
a few tears.” I cry before God.
My conduct may appear strange, but what I’m hoping you’ll find even stranger
is that after you pray and meditate over what you are reading, you won’t mind
joining me. I surely won’t tell. I only tell on myself.
We can begin by agreeing to the fact that when you see one man, who is clearly
made in the image of God (Gen.1:27), look at and confront another man, also
made in God’s image — with the intentions of hurting, maiming, or killing that
individual — something is in the process of going awfully wrong with God’s
purpose for our existence ( . . .God saw everything he had made, and, behold,
it was very good. Gen.1:31).
What’s more reasonable than to contemplate that as I consider the verses that
were provided alone (and this applies only if you prayerfully read them),
that the same God that would allow for this evil, would at that same time prepare
for my good. The God that allows for my death and suffering, would also
make provisions for my life (Ephesians 1:3-11).
You are so right if you were to say, “Well, I wasn’t there before the foundations
of the world, so how can I know there’s any truth to a God who would
have the ability to look far enough ahead as to see this day? And to send His
Son to die for my sins?” My honest response to you would be to ask you
to only stop, look, and listen; and then you tell me after reading the Bible;
do you really believe that what you see going on in the world today is God’s
plan for your life, or for that person who you don’t even know— may have nothing
in this world to call his/her own — call out to God in response to John
3:16, and have this God say, “Sorry, I can neither help you nor save you!”
It’s not impossible that you may not have witnessed the same accounts that I
saw in the news, but if God allowed you to be a witness to it, and you were
not actively involved and made to be an participant, maybe God says to you today
that you can pray. Human beings were not designed for killing one another,
and yet we live in a day where there is virtually no value put on human life
anymore.
There is not intent on my part to leave out the issues of politics, unemployment,
war, crime poverty or any other event going on in the world today, but
until we are willing to recognize this as a spiritual issue in the eyes of God,
we will remain in darkness and bondage. We are called to be intercessors
and that should resonate within you as a Christian.
Prayer warriors are simply men and women of God who don’t mind spending time
on their knees in the presence of a loving God who knows all about it even
before we pray. Maybe Israel was known as a ‘rebellious people,’ but when you
read the Old Testament, they also knew how to pray when they were willing
to acknowledge their need to rely on the promises of God (Exodus 6:1-5; Numbers
21:1-9).
How can you make a difference? — Read the Proverbs again; read the gospels;
read the book of Romans; don’t stop there; read of God’s love for you; and when
its all said and done, cry a little bit, and see how beautiful the tears in
the presence of God who will at that time share His pain for a world that believes
He would standby and allow us to perish without hope, more than they’re willing
to believe in: John 3:16 (KJV) 16For God so loved the world, that he gave
his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but
have everlasting life.
In this way, whatever is going on in your life; or in the world around you;
through the effectual prayer’s, it always ends up being a life worth the living.
God Bless, SLC
